HOW WE BEGAN
Better Lives Kenya is a Nongovernmental organization based in Rural Kenya- Nakuru. We are committed to advancing women’s rights; and work towards achieving a society free from all forms of Violence against Women and children. The organisation was founded in 2021. This was in response to the fact that during the Covid -19 pandemic women and children went through a heightened level of VAWG and GBV. When children reopened schools, there was unrest in the schools and research indicated that it was highly linked to abuse and other related issues. It has highly contributed to slow economic development and this is where Better Lives Kenya Comes in.

WHAT WE DO
Better lives Kenya was founded in 2021. We invest in empowering women and children to claim their rights; enabling equitable access to services, resources and opportunities; facilitating greater information and access to justice for survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV); and supporting change agents opposed to and committed to eradication of all forms of VAWG and GBV.
Our interventions are designed to deliberately achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 and to address norms, attitudes, laws, policies and practices that affect women’s and girl’s safety and wellbeing in general.
Women rights are basic rights, and basic rights are human rights. We believe that VAWG is preventable and people have the capacity to learn and change their attitudes towards women and children.
